Research; Intertextuality

Intertextuality is a term to describe the visual referencing between films.  Some aspects of a film may be 'borrowed' by another film, such as: Camera angles,
                                                         Parts of mise en scene,
                                                         Snippets of  sound,
                                                         Methods of editing.

- Psycho (1960)

- The Stepfather (2009)

As you can see, the film 'The Stepfather' has borrowed the scene from 'Psycho' when the shower railings are being pulled. Both uses white/transparent shower curtains.
