Through these screenshots of the Arlington Road opening, there are many conventions perceived of the thriller theme. At the beginning of the opening, we're shown various pictures in one shot. Colours used are quite common and normal, yet the dark shades overlaps the bright ones.
The second to fourth shot is a blurred shot in 'negative' . It conveys a thriller atmosphere as it creates a spooky look. On the fifth shot we are depicted a shot of a half black, half red screen. The colour red could represent many negative things, but the main connotation is blood.
In the next shot we see the back of an old man in 'black and white' effect. This shot makes the audience wonder why the mans there. Could he be a protagonist? or someones relevant in the movie?
The seventh shot is in 'sepia' effect of clothes on a hanging line blowing in the wind. These simple normal shot now looks quite abnormal
